Today is the Thaipusam day celebrated by the Hindu devotes in Malaysia. I would like to wish Happy Thaipusam days to all my fellow Hindu readers, especially in Malaysia. They will gather and do their prayers at a placed called Batu Caves located at Selayang. Thousand of devotes from all around Malaysia and others attend one of the big event in Malaysia. This placed will be crowded with people especially tourist to see this magnificent event. Click on the photo to view in black.
Thaipusam also referred to as Thaipooyam or Thaippooyam in the Malayalam language. The word Thai-pusam is derived from the month name Thai and Pusam, which refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Murugan (also Subramaniam), the youngest son of god Shiva and his wife Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (spear) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.
